Extending the life of our cars and their parts is ideal. To achieve this, there are some actions that significantly help achieve this goal. They just need to be applied when necessary.

For this occasion, a mechanic revealed what to do when we're stuck in traffic and have to rev the engine every few minutes to shift into first gear. Although it may seem like the car isn't suffering, this isn't the case.

"What you absolutely have to do is deactivate the start/stop system, meaning the car stops and the engine starts as we move off or stop," he explains.

"That will wear down and strain both the car's starter motor and the battery, and you'll be left without air conditioning," he points out as the main problems.

"Another thing that also suffers a lot is the temperature. You have to be very careful, especially now in the summer because the heat is very detrimental when the car is idling," the mechanic insists.
